Surface Preparation at a Hospital Parking Garage

The rubber product used in this expansion joint began to tear away from the joint, creating a trip hazard for pedestrians.

The old material was peeled out of the joint.

After the old material was removed, the surface of the exposed joint needed to be sandblasted in preparation for the application of the Belzona.

Because pedestrians were still using the area, the crew put up a blast booth around the blasting area to contain the dust.

A dust bag was also utilized to further reduce the amount of dust created by the blasting.

The joint, inside the blasting booth, just prior to blasting.

The joint was sandblasted to finish cleaning and to provide a good surface for the Belzona 2221 MP Elastomer to adhere to.

The concrete area was filled in.

Belzona 4111 Magma Quartz was used to repair the concrete around the joint.

Belzona 2221 MP Elastomer was then poured into the joint and allowed to cure.

The finished joint and surrounding concrete.
